The camshaft sprockets will only hold in place in one of 3 places each and the crankshaft will stop pretty much anywhere, and it doesn't appear that any of the marks on the rear sprockets line up with the notches on the valve covers, so I'm assuming that when one side lines up, the other side is in an intermediary positon, but since the steatlh316 page says that the sprockets will stay in place when the belt comes off, then I must be messed up somewhere. Anyone have any other links or suggestions? Or if you can recommend where to get a downloadable factory service manual before Friday, it should be able to tell me what I need to know. Thanks for the current and future help guys.
I've been checking around for years and still don't have a clue what those timing marks on the sprockets mean. Nor where they should point. I have a factory service manual, but it's useless. I'm probably going to look at another 3/s sprockets to see where they point and try to get mine to point in the same direction
