My car is an atx sohc and is doing the same thing. I did an oil change and used Seafoom right before the oil change. It made the tick go away for a while. But 3 months later its back. I don't think it has to do with the tranny if both a mtx and an atx have the problem. Unless they are different problems that sound the same. Does your ticking start softly then get progressively loader over the next few seconds then stop then starts the whole process over? Mine keeps doing this over and over. It almost always takes the same amount of time between starting soft, getting loud, then stopping. Its wierd.
