The problem with doing high and low beams with HID's is that HID's need to "warm up" (we've all seen this when first switching 'em on). HID's aren't meant to be flashed on and off and doing so shortens the life of them by a lot.
Think about it, if every time you flipped on your brights, you needed to wait for it to warm up, you might not get the bright light you need in time.
I just run HID lo-beams and Silverstar Ultra hi-beams. It works really nicely, and it's cool to see the white-difference.
