Also consider that someone repairing in their garage can offer a lower price as they don't have the overhead or carry the liability insurance a shop would. However, if something goes wrong with the rebuild and the trans has to be pulled, will the guy in the garage stand behind his work?

In California to call a stick trans a
Rebuilt Trans . as a minimum it must have new bearings,seals, synchro blocking rings . anything less then that and calling a trans rebuilt is fraud.
