Question Slider bolt problems

I'm doing the painstaking job of removing all calipers to clean the sliding bolts and bores so that I can remove the wrong grease (used suspension grease) and apply the correct slider bolt grease instead. After I finished the 1st caliper at the front right I noticed the lil rubber piece at the end of 1 of the slider bolts is I guess widened too much to allow the bolt to slide in and out easily. How easily should this bolt slide in and out of this bore? I must apply FULL FORCE to even budge it 1mm downward into the bore. Do ya'll think the suspension grease swelled this rubber piece over time? I have not driven it but 5-10 TEST miles and noticed my brakes were sticking/heating up.

Do I even need this rubber piece at the end? What would happen if I removed it completely? It seems the brakes would slide a lot easier without this piece even being in there to begin with. Pictures attached:
