I have the 95 SL model and I had the same problem. I got a transmission flush. The bad part is though, after the flush I found out that the particular garage I brought it to doesnt change the tranny filters for "liability reasons."
4 weeks later, my transmission seized and the front tires were locked. $2300 for a fix.
Get it flushed and make sure they do the filter also.
