Default Re: jdm 6spd question

hey, i'm bringing this back from the dead, i'm hoping somebody an give me some help here.

backstory: a fella came to the shop asking for some help with his 93 vr4 (w5mg1), he blew his trans up internally. instead of rebuilding, he purchased a jdm trans. turns out the trans he got was a jdm w6mg1. i haven't put it in yet, from what i've read it looks like he can use his 5 speed diff. i do know some of his existing transfer case bolt holes do not line up but it looks like it will still work, altho not well. i believe the front axles are the same throughout all years. i checked caps, kinda a pain in the ass but from what i can tell it looks like he will need the shift linkage and shift assembly and a new tc (existing one looks like it will work but not advised).

basically, my question(s) are this:

1. which transfer case does he need?
2. will his 5 speed axles in fact work with the 6 speed trans?
3. will the rear diff and driveshaft be ok?
4. shift linkage and assembly need changed?
5. what else am i missing or should be aware of?

any help is appreciated, i found this thread by searching, read brett's trans wiki and did some of my own research but validation is appreciated thanks
