I have installed a FMIC on my car with a 24x12x3 core and have started fitting a Venom front bumper from Deft. The air inlets are extremely wide on it which makes my FMIC look small in comparison. The perfect core size to go with this bumer would be something like 36x11x3 but customs are quite pricey which leads to my question:
What kind of performance hit do you think I would take by mounting 2 intercoolers in series each with a core that is 11x12x3"? I know my core area will be 2" smaller but I will never push more than 500-550HP out of then engine anyway so it should still be big enough to cool the air.
I'm looking for any drawbacks to doing this. The reason for doing it is more of a cosmetic thing so I won't if it will hinder performance significantly.

Never sacrifice how your car runs for cosmetics. PERIOD. Running twin intercoolers isnt a good idea. You do not have the turbo size to pressurize all of the core, even with the large custom core your refering. WHy make your car drive worse. Lose the bumper, get a grill, or deal with it
