Comm error means your not connected. I would check the connectors, wiggle them and see if it changes. Not sure but I would recommend to turn on the ignition first and then turn on the palm and then MMcd program. If you start the MMcd first and then turn on the car it might not read because it thinks the car is off. Not sure on the settings in the MMcd program, you might have to change one of the settings to get it to read. Not sure if I'm much help.
