the FI display is the incoming frequency (RPM/60), it should be reasonably steady.
The timing monitor measures the 'angle' between the signal on the white wire (CAS/Crank signal) and the yellow wire (Tach signal, happens when the plug fires.)

Yes, I did disconnect the resistor.
Could it be that it is pulling timing so much it becomes a "negative" number.
I have not set Base yet. My car idles at around 12-15 degrees. It seems like as I get into the throttle the spark advance lowers to 1-3 degrees, then shoots up to 120-ish degrees, then will every now and then show a low number, say .5 degrees, then peak at 120-ish again.
If you want me to post up the log, I can get it from the laptop, but this is the only thing that seems to make sense. At least everything is more stable now (other than the 120 degree peaks) with the Tach wire.
