The ongoing saga of the TC. During a rebuild of my engine a few years ago, with official recall papers in hand, I brought in my TC and tranny to Biondi Mitsu in Pittsburgh to have them look at the extensive wear in the TC and the worn splines on the tranny jack shaft. They wouldn't even look at it, saying it had to be INSTALLED in the car! How ludicrous! So we put it all back together and I continued to drive without noticing any problems, although aware it could go at any time.
This June, with slippage evident, I replaced the clutch with a new LUK, then called and made an appointment with South Park Mitsu for the recall. After having it a couple of days, they called me and said I needed a new clutch!! HUH?!? Talk about incompetence! I told them it was replaced 100 miles ago and I knew there was an obvious problem with the TC. Couple days later, they called and said it was a tranny problem due to TOO MUCH TORQUE!! Right, the stock engine was always way over designed for the rest of the drive train! Sure!
Anyway, they refused to repair anything under the recall. I called Mitsu at their 888 number and got the same kind of run around, even when I suggested I might be forced to take legal action. They could give a shit.
I would much rather drive the car than keep it sitting around just for its' aesthetic appeal, so now I have to find the parts.
Can anyone suggest a source for necessary TC innards as well as a tranny jack shaft? I don't want to take a second mortgage to do it!
