That said, I tapped an oil pan years ago (turbo on my Impala SS....), we made the hole using a series of metal punches so the hole bent inward a lot and gave us meat to cut with the tap......
But a bung is best. On my car we tapped the plastic Y pipe, then reinforced it by putting a couple hose clamps near the hole to prevent it from splitting.....

True.. But it's nice stainless steel.. welding a bung would be pretty nasty.. Someone mentioned drilling a hole and then putting a nut on the inside somehow, but I have nightmares of it coming loose under full boost and sucking into the engine.. Threadlock? Once I puncture the y-pipe it's really only good for speed density use anyway.. maybe some JB weld or something.. hmmm..
