Yeah, that adapter is only good for the newest of the 3/S's. The less desirable thing about putting the map sensor directly on the intake manifold is the heat will not be kind to it in the long run, and could possibly affect calibration values. Lots of people do it though and only some report better/different results with having it somewhat isolated (like with a very short piece of hose).
