Just another reason why our cars go 10:1 AFR at WOT with our stock plugs.
If you run cooler plugs you can play with that a bit more so you dont start pre-igniting.
Most of our failures are detonation or pre-ignition caused by detonation. I think everyone here who has blown a motor with too much boost has shown ring lands ripped to shreds. Which can be attributed to many things, one being octane not high enough, so detonation occurs. The other major factor being timing.
