Default Re: Make your own valve spring compressor for $15

After getting lots of info from clint and starting with a modified version of the 15 dollar tool I made this. (sorry about the bad pictures.) I took a piece of 1/4 inch steel and bent it over as you can see. I then chucked it offset in the laith to bore the foot so it would fit around the valve spring washer.
I then welded the top part on to lengthen it.(mistake) It worked just fine for the front bank but it was too long for the rear. I ended cutting it shorter (where I marked the picture)
the handle I used was pretty much the 15 dollar tool handle. If I get a chance I will take a better picture. This fits between the head and the cam. This is a 2 person tool - one to compress and the other to remove/install keeper. Clints Idea was better as it would clip on the cam - one person tool.
