Swapping a VCU is alot easier/faster than swapping the planetary gears though. Thats an important factor. Half of my customers swapping welded VCU's or installing LSD inserts always seem to be in a hurry and just want to do things as quickly as possible.
Add that to the fact that most people are pretty scared to start taking apart stuff inside their Getrag tranny like the VCU, as they often should be.
