1) Nitrous is not a knock retardant like the others. the other 3 attempt to drop intake temps to prevent knock. nitrous shoots more oxygen into the cyl with more fuel to cause more combustion. while yes it does cool slightly when spraying because its changing state from high pressure to low thats not really why its used.
