I never wanted to own an AWD 3S before the internal trans parts were available. CRS opened up to us, so I finally bought one. Now that I need the parts, CRS seems to be drying up. I'm not ready to get rid of my car over a couple of brass rings, so I'll pay any sane price that is asked of me.
This isn't a Tremec T56 with hundreds of thousands of units in circulation. There are barely 20,000 of these transaxles in existance. You have to expect prices to be a bit higher.
For the record, the F5M33 in the FWD cars, a trans that is shared over several other Mitsu models and has many more units in service than we do, has similar syncro pricing to what we've seen here. I paid just over $300 for a set of rings back when I built mine.
Let's just wait and see if we can even get the right parts before we start worrying about pricing.
That brings me to a question for Howard. What do we do if there's an error in the part numbers? Say they've been superceeded without our knowledge? I'd hate to see people drop $500 on syncro rings, only to find out the part numbers had been reassigned to something for say, an 04 Eclipse. Is it possible to get just one set of each to verify that these are indeed the right parts before we start doing mass orders?

Gatecrasher,
First I got your email and haven't had a chance to respond and thanks I will as soon as I can.
As to supercessions all of the parts on your list appear to be 3000gt and are still valid #s.
I can order 1 set or 100 of the 4 #s that were checked.
First we need a list to check all prices- if they suck I'll try another route.
I was told by my contact that the license agreement between Mitsubishi,Getrag,
& CRS is exclusive and rather unusual. So I don't know about going direct to Getrag but maybe if I contact CRS and offer to be the middle man they might go for it.
CRS is a rebuilder and not geared up for parts distribution to individuals. If I was to guess that may be why they are trying to get away from it. When I was told about the 3 party agreement no mention was made about CRS stopping there rebuilding of the 3K Getrag Trans.
BTW-Has anyone asked if CRS can do a performance build on these( or any other shop for that matter) DD Performance comes to mind though they appear to be domestic

Well its Sunday, the sun is shining, skies blue, and the t-tops are still on my TA that I just got back on the road yesterday.
Not to mention I'm so starved that I could eat a horse. MMM...Mustang does an F-Body good. First I hunt then I feed.
Keep me posted I'll check back later.
Thanks,
Howard
PS- I actually like Stangs I have to its all my Dad and brothers and sister drive and race. He went from a 427 Corvair Funny Car to a 85 pro street mustang...Oh how the mighty have fallen
